Complete Metabolic Heart Scan

We’ve enhanced the standard CT Coronary Artery Calcium Score scan to create the Complete Metabolic Heart Scan — a powerful tool focused on metabolic health and longevity, all using the same foundational imaging data.
A single imaging study generates four comprehensive reports—without taking any more time than a standard CT calcium score. These include:

  • CT Coronary Artery Calcium
  • CT Calculated Arterial Age
  • CT Liver Fat Quantification
  • CT Bone Mineral Density

The Complete Metabolic Heart Scan measures key metabolic and cardiovascular markers, identifying actual disease rather than just assessing risk, as blood or genetic tests do.

CT CORONARY ARTERY CALCIUM SCORE

Traditional risk assessments for heart disease rely on blood tests, genetics, and family history, but these only estimate probability—not actual disease. CT Coronary Artery Calcium (CAC) Scoring allows you to see the disease itself by measuring calcified plaque buildup in the coronary arteries. This non-invasive scan provides a direct visualization of early atherosclerosis, helping to identify individuals at risk for heart attacks and cardiovascular events—even if their cholesterol and other markers appear normal. By knowing your CAC score, you and your doctor can create a targeted prevention plan to slow or reverse plaque progression and optimize heart health before symptoms develop.

CT CALCULATED ARTERIAL AGE

Cardiovascular disease risk isn’t just about cholesterol levels or family history—it’s about the actual condition of your arteries. CT Calculated Arterial Age translates coronary artery calcium (CAC) score into an easily understandable metric: the biological age of your arteries. Since calcium buildup in the arteries can develop at different rates based on factors like age, sex, and genetics, this test provides a more personalized assessment of vascular health. By comparing arterial age to chronological age, individuals can better understand their true cardiovascular risk and take proactive steps to slow or even reverse vascular aging through lifestyle and medical interventions.

CT LIVER FAT QUANTIFICATION

Liver fat accumulation is a critical indicator of metabolic health, often preceding conditions like insulin resistance, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. CT Liver Fat Quantification provides an objective measurement of hepatic fat content, allowing for early detection of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and its progression. Unlike traditional blood markers that estimate liver health, this scan directly visualizes fat deposition, helping to identify individuals at risk before symptoms arise. By quantifying fat levels, patients and clinicians can track lifestyle and therapeutic interventions aimed at reducing liver fat and improving overall metabolic health.

CT BONE LIVER DENSITY

Bone fractures and osteoporosis often develop silently over time, leading to serious health complications if undetected. CT Bone Mineral Density scanning provides a highly accurate assessment of bone strength by directly measuring bone density and structural integrity. Similar to a traditional DEXA scan, this test is especially valuable for individuals at risk of osteoporosis due to aging, genetics, or metabolic conditions, empowering proactive steps toward bone health preservation and fracture prevention.

What is a Complete Metabolic Heart Scan?

The Complete Metabolic Heart Scan is painless, noninvasive (no needles or injections), and takes about 15 minutes.

You will be able to have it performed at one of our partner imaging centers near you.

Four essential reports are produced from a single imaging study that capture metabolic and cardiovascular markers including atherosclerotic coronary artery disease, overall arterial age,  liver fat quantification, and bone mineral density determination. All accomplished with no additional radiation or time from that required with a standard calcium score.
A single imaging study provides four key reports including:

* CT Coronary Artery Calcium Score

* CT Calculated Arterial Age

* CT Liver Fat Quantification

* CT Bone Mineral Density

These advanced insights are obtained without additional radiation or extra time beyond what is required for a standard calcium score.

Who Should Get Scanned?

Many experts recommend a Complete Metabolic Heart Scan for men and women over 30 years of age with any of the following risk factors:

  • Family history of cardiovascular or metabolic disease

  • Unhealthy lifestyle
  • High blood pressure

  • High cholesterol

  • High blood pressure

  • Smoking

  • Obesity

  • Diabetes

  • Fractures
  • Cancer
Does the test use radiation?

Yes. Complete Metabolic Heart Scans use a type of X-ray, but is a relatively a limited amount of radiation, typically less than or equal to that of a CT Coronary Calcium Score.

Do I Need an Order from My Doctor?

No, you do not need a physician order. You may send a copy of your results for your doctor if you would like. If you do not have a primary care provider, our friendly advisors can help you find one if desired.

I’ve Had Bypass Surgery. Can I Get This Test?

If you’ve already had bypass surgery, the coronary artery calcium score and arterial age are not needed but the liver fat quantification and bone mineral density scans can provide valuable information.

I Have a Pacemaker. Can I Get This Test?

If you have a pacemaker, the coronary artery calcium score and arterial age are not needed but the liver fat quantification and bone mineral density scans can provide valuable information.

Will my insurance pay for this test?

Some insurance plans will reimburse you for the cost of the study. We only accept credit card payments at this time.
